Everything common about Ropil — custody, fees, supported chains, privacy, and risk. For specifics that aren't here, email hello@ropil.xyz.
- What is Ropil?
- Ropil is a non-custodial web interface that routes your cross-chain swap through three independent protocols — LiFi, Relay, and THORChain — and shows you the best output amount. We do not hold your funds. Your wallet signs every transaction.
- Do I need an account?
- No. No email, no password, no KYC. You bring a self-custodial wallet (MetaMask, Rabby, WalletConnect-compatible). Close the tab and we forget you.
- Which chains and tokens are supported?
- v1 covers Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Optimism, Polygon, and BNB Smart Chain via LiFi and Relay; plus native Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin, and Bitcoin Cash via THORChain. Tokens depend on the engine — most major stablecoins (USDC, USDT, DAI) and majors (ETH, WBTC) are universally supported. Use the swap interface to see the live list per chain.
- How are quotes selected?
- When you enter a from-chain, to-chain, and amount, we query all three engines in parallel and rank by output amount in USD after slippage and network fees. You see all three quotes and a best-rate tag; you choose which to execute.
- What does Ropil charge?
- Each route includes a 30 basis-point affiliate fee paid to Ropil by the engine (LiFi integrator fee, Relay appFees, THORChain affiliate memo). Network gas, protocol fees, and slippage are paid to the underlying protocols — we do not see them.
- Is Ropil regulated?
- The interface is open-protocol software. We are not a regulated exchange, custodian, money-service business, or financial advisor. The underlying protocols (LiFi, Relay, THORChain) are licensed open-source DeFi systems. Read the terms and risk disclosure before swapping.
- Who can use Ropil?
- Adults outside sanctioned jurisdictions. We geo-block residents of the OFAC-sanctioned countries and annexed Ukrainian regions at the Cloudflare edge. EU users are blocked under MiCA, US users under federal interpretation of regulated activity. See terms section 4 for the exact list.
- How long does a swap take?
- Depends on the route. L2-to-L2 stablecoin swaps via Relay typically settle in 10-30 seconds. LiFi bridge routes between EVMs take 1-15 minutes depending on the bridge. THORChain native swaps (e.g. BTC to ETH) take 10-45 minutes due to Bitcoin confirmation windows. Quote ETAs are estimates; check inside the widget.
- What are the risks?
- Cross-chain swaps are experimental, irreversible, and expose users to smart-contract risk, bridge security risk, slippage, MEV, wallet-security risk, and partial-fill / refund scenarios on multi-leg routes. Historical bridge exploits — Ronin, Wormhole, Nomad — total billions in user losses. Read the risk disclosure before clicking swap.
- Does Ropil track me?
- We use privacy-preserving Plausible Analytics — no cookies, no fingerprinting, no IP retention, no wallet-address logging. The privacy policy at /privacy describes everything we do and do not collect.
- Can I integrate Ropil into my app?
- Yes — we expose an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server at mcp.ropil.xyz with six tools an AI agent can call to list chains, quote routes, compare alternatives, and track swap status. Email hello@ropil.xyz for an integration key.
- What if a swap gets stuck?
- Use the ropil_track_swap tool on the MCP server, or the engine's own status page (LiFi has bridge-explorer-link; THORChain provides midgard.ninerealms.com). Most bridge stalls resolve within an hour. If funds remain stranded, contact the engine's support — Ropil is informational only, we cannot recover funds we never custodied.
